The project Gender Equality TC was organized by the Serbian NGO European Youth Organizations in cooperation with the German NGO Zentralrat der Serben in Deutschland e.V. It brought together youth workers, leaders, teachers, and social workers from across Europe to strengthen knowledge, skills, and practices in the field of gender equality.
Gender inequality remains one of the most persistent social issues worldwide. Gender-based violence is among the most widespread forms of human rights abuse, undermining dignity and equality in every society. This training course addressed these challenges by equipping participants with education, information, and tools to promote human rights, non-violence, and gender equality in their communities.
The training course aimed to:
Deepen understanding of gender, gender roles, and the roots of inequality.
Provide practical tools for promoting equality and tolerance.
Build the capacities of youth workers to address gender issues in local and international contexts.
Encourage cooperation and exchange of good practices within the Erasmus+ framework.
The project gathered motivated youth workers, group leaders, and volunteers who:
Work directly with young people from different cultural backgrounds.
Are active in non-formal education.
Seek to develop competences in gender equality and share them with peers.
Have experience in intercultural learning and are open to applying gender equality in practice.
Participants came from Germany, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Spain, creating a diverse environment for intercultural dialogue and mutual learning.
The activities took place in Topola, a historic town in Serbia’s Šumadija region, known for its cultural heritage, the Oplenac royal mausoleum, monasteries, wine tradition, and beautiful landscapes. The training was hosted at Hotel Oplenac, offering comfortable accommodation and a setting that encouraged group work and community building.
The training course was co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union with the support of the German National Agency. The grant covered accommodation, meals, travel reimbursements, and project activities.
Gender Equality TC empowered youth workers to promote equality, respect, and non-violence in their work with young people. By combining theory with practical tools, the course encouraged participants to launch new initiatives, integrate gender perspectives in youth work, and strengthen tolerance and cooperation in their local and international environments.
